Take time to laugh!  Sometimes as moms and dads we get too serious!  Here is something to make you smile!

My husband and I sat down last night and talked about what to ‘give’ to our community for the holiday season.  The Fall seems to be flying by so quickly already that if we don’t plan ahead I’m thinking it won’t happen! 

If finances are a concern - there are so many ways to give that don’t involve money!  Giving of time at an animal shelter, cleaning up litter in a church parking lot, helping to clean someone’s house, raking leaves, walking someone’s dog…

 I challenge you to make your plans now of something to give that your children can help in as well or the season will be gone before you know it!  Help them discover the joy of giving time…

Tomorrow is a new day….

I think it is so important to remember this with parenting.  There will be frustrations ‘today’ and maybe you lost your cool or things didn’t go as planned. 

Start again tomorrow - fresh.  Don’t burden yourself with the failure of yesterday.  Our kids are amazing at forgiving and loving and we need to forgive and love ourselves as well!

Fall Family Pictures…  Professional pictures can be SO expensive!  We have had great fun each fall by having “picture” day at the park.  A few of our close family friends will meet us at the park and we will all snap each other’s family.  We have always gotten at least one great photo and for FREE!  Don’t let the season go by without a great family picture and now the expense of professional pictures is no longer an excuse!  A great photo is just a phone call away…

Time to get the cute pictures at the pumpkin patch!  Do we have the perfect clothes for you!  Darling jumpers, dresses, tights…

Local Beauty Academies…

Ok - this tip will be most helpful if you have daughters…  Find a local beauty school.  Did you know that they offer children’s pedicures??

Our local academy will do my child’s hands and feet for $3.  My kids love to go!  They will also do my child’s hair into an up-do for $7 - a wash and shampoo and blow dry for $5, etc.  It is so inexpensive and fabulous fun for the kids!  Also a great opportunity for manners.  I slip my child her “tipping” money in advance and she learns how one should behave in a salon.

DADS - this would be a great gift certificate to pick up for your precious little one and leave it on her pillow!

Birthday Party idea…

We had a customer share an awesome birthday party idea with us!  Since her daughter already had everything she needed and this mom wasn’t anxious for her child to receive a whole bunch more stuff to clutter up the house - she came up with a brilliant idea.

She called each parent personally and asked them to send a gift for their OWN child.  Each parent then gift- shopped in secret and then sent a beautifully wrapped gift and at present time - each child was surprised with a special gift to keep from their own parent!  She said that this was her daughter’s favorite party and her friends talked about it for months - how unselfish she was as well as what a fun opportunity to feel extra-loved by mom and dad!

I hope that this is an idea some of you can use!
